Terra Nova Expeditions Granted Provisional IAATO Membership
Annapolis, Maryland, USA, 22nd of April 2026 - Terra Nova Expeditions has been officially granted provisional membership of the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) following its presentation and review at the 2026 IAATO Annual Meeting in Annapolis, Maryland.
As part of the IAATO membership process, new applicants are required to present their operational framework, safety systems, and environmental management standards to existing members. Terra Nova Expeditions delivered its formal case during the meeting, followed by a structured question-and-answer session with IAATO members and governing representatives.
Provisional IAATO Membership Awarded
Following completion of the review process, Terra Nova Expeditions has been accepted as a provisional IAATO member, marking a significant milestone in its integration into the global Antarctic tourism framework.
Provisional IAATO membership is a structured, multi-year entry stage into the association. It allows new operators to participate in IAATO activities while operating under close observation and continuous evaluation. During this period operators are required to demonstrate full compliance with IAATO’s operational, environmental, and safety standards before being considered for full membership.
Commitment to Antarctic Standards
“This marks an important step for Terra Nova Expeditions and reinforces our long-term commitment to responsible Antarctic operations,” said Greg Carter, Founder of Terra Nova Expeditions. “Becoming a provisional member of IAATO places us within a globally respected framework dedicated to protecting Antarctica through strict environmental stewardship and operational excellence.”
Terra Nova Expeditions will now begin its provisional membership phase, working closely with IAATO members and regulators as it continues its progression toward full membership status.
